Children's and Youth Choirs in Grants Pass
Looking for a children's choir or youth choir in Grants Pass? Southern Oregon School of Music offers two engaging choir programs that help your child build confidence and experience the joy of making music together.
Our choir students develop musicianship, improve their singing skills, and build lasting friendships in a fun, encouraging environment. Through engaging rehearsals and inspiring performances, students gain confidence while learning to work as part of an ensemble. Both choirs perform regularly at our concerts and are occasionally invited to sing at community events.
Children's Choir (ages 5-8):
Our Children's Choir is a singing class for children ages 5–8. Through singing games and movement activities, students focus on foundational singing skills in a lighthearted, encouraging atmosphere.
This group learns new and familiar songs that are fun to sing, developing self-confidence and the ability to focus on a leader while singing as part of an ensemble.
Youth Ensemble (ages 8-18):
Our Youth Ensemble begins with vocal exercises and warmups focused on technique, including diaphragmatic breathing, resonance, and flexibility, and usually ends with a game designed to teach aspects of music theory and note reading.
The rest of the time the choir rehearses positive, uplifting music from a variety of styles, including classical, Broadway, popular, multicultural, traditional, and contemporary Christian.
For many of our concert performances, this group is accompanied by live instruments played by our teachers and advancing student musicians, giving choir members the exciting opportunity to perform with live musicians.
Rehersals:
Children's Choir: Tuesdays at 4:15
Youth Ensemble: Thursdays at 4:15
