Exciting New Piano Express Group Class
starting this month for ages 8-12!

Piano Express® is a beginner piano class that turns learning piano into a fun, game style experience. With teacher support, students use the Piano Express program to learn songs, level up, and earn in app rewards like stars, jewels, and crowns. This playful approach keeps kids motivated while building confidence and independence at the piano. During the second half of class, students work off the screen with the teacher on technique, musicianship, ear training, and music theory, giving them a strong musical foundation.

Piper B.

"I'd like to highlight Piper for her extreme diligence in piano practice. I don't believe she has missed a practice goal throughout the 6 months that I've taught her! Her commitment is an inspiration to me and others. And beyond this, Piper brings spunk and buoyancy both to the classroom as well as to her music. I am very proud of her!"

February Practice Focus:

Shout it Out From the Kitchen!

Help your child practice - even if you don't read music.

Ask these questions to help your child focus and let them know you care about their playing:

  • Can you tell me what your teacher wants you to work on in this piece?

  • I’d love to hear that again, but can you play with your right hand only?

  • That sounded difficult. I'd love to hear you play it slowly.

  • What do you think you need to work on in that piece?

  • That middle section was beautiful! Can I hear it again?

  • Wow! That use to be hard for you! Can I hear it again?

  • Remember, it's okay to make mistakes. Keep going! Your playing just keeps sounding better and better!

Julianne Burdis holds a minor in music from the University of Oregon where she served as viola section leader with the Oregon Campus Orchestra.  Julianne is a passionate violist who has performed in orchestras since she was 10, including audition-only groups like the Grants Pass Middle School Honor Orchestra and High School Chamber Orchestra. She currently plays with the Three Rivers Community Orchestra. Julianne enjoys chamber music too, having performed in a high school quartet that advanced to state-level competitions and trained for three years at the Delgani Quartet Academy. She has also performed as a soloist in regional competitions and in multiple recitals throughout her studies.

Julianne loves sharing the joy of music with others and helping students grow both as musicians and as individuals. She has mentored peers in school, led orchestra sectionals, and volunteers with the middle school Honor Orchestra, giving one-on-one instruction and encouragement to young musicians in Grants Pass District 7 schools.
