We’re looking for a musician who loves singing, enjoys working with students, and finds it rewarding to help young people grow through music. This position includes private voice lessons with opportunities to work with our choirs and vocal ensembles if that would interest you.

What You'll Do

Teach voice lessons to students of varying ages and abilities.

Work with students to develop healthy vocal technique including breath support, resonance, range, and diction.

Help young singers develop their musicianship and an understanding of basic music theory.

Choose repertoire that fits each student's voice, age, and interests.

Create positive, encouraging learning environments where students feel successful.

Prepare students for recitals, performances, and other opportunities to share their music.

Participate in school events.

Communicate positively and professionally with students and families.

Work collaboratively with the Southern Oregon School of Music team; attend monthly Saturday morning team meetings.

Qualifications Required
-
Formal private vocal training
-
Solid, healthy vocal technique and the ability to demonstrate it

Experience working with child and adolescent voices

Comfort across a variety of styles including contemporary, musical theatre, and classical
-
Functional piano skills—enough to play warm-ups
-
Ability to sight-read and sight-sing the music your students will perform at beginner to intermediate levels

A strong understanding of music theory and musicianship

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Positive, encouraging, and engaging personality

Dependable and professional, with the ability to work well with students, parents, and a teaching team
A plus if you also have...
-
Previous voice teaching experience. For the right candidate with significant education and/or performance experience, we will provide teacher training.

Piano skills to accompany beginning to intermediate repertoire in lessons
- Solo and/or ensemble performance experience

Choral conducting or ensemble coaching experience
