What You'll Do

Teach voice lessons to students of varying ages and abilities.

Work with students to develop healthy vocal technique including breath support, resonance, range, and diction.

Help young singers develop their musicianship and an understanding of basic music theory.

Choose repertoire that fits each student's voice, age, and interests.

Prepare students for recitals, performances, and other opportunities to share their music.

Work collaboratively with the Southern Oregon School of Music team; attend monthly Saturday morning team meetings and participate in concerts and events.
Qualifications Required
-
Formal private vocal training, the ability to read music, and an understanding of music theory.

Solid, healthy vocal technique and the ability to demonstrate it

Experience working with child and adolescent voices

Comfort across a variety of styles including contemporary, musical theatre, and classical

Functional piano skills—enough to play warm-ups
A plus if you also have...

Previous voice teaching experience. For the right candidate with significant education and/or performance experience, we will provide teacher training.

Piano skills to accompany beginning to intermediate repertoire in lessons
- Solo and/or ensemble performance experience

Choral conducting or ensemble coaching experience

Collaborate on a duet, sit in on a colleague's ensemble, refer a student who wants a second instrument, or just swap notes over coffee.
