Shastan S.
"Shastan began with me in Kindermusik when he was four years old. He graduated with his Kindermusik friends to piano class three years later and has been playing piano ever since! Shastan loves music and practices every day throughout the school year earning him the "Longest Practice Streak" trophy for two years in a row. A fun, loving guy, he is always trying to play tricks on me, and he always has a smile on his face. Shastan is a joy to teach and I am very proud of his accomplishments!"
- Deb, Founder and Director, Kindermusik, Piano, Guitar, Voice

Establish your Practice Routine
Use your SOSM Practice Record Chart. Choose a realistic weekly practice goal. Make sure it is a goal that you can meet so you have weekly success! Mark an X on each day that you practice!
A practice time of 10-15 minutes each day that you practice is a good guideline for beginners. Then add 10 minutes every time you finish a level and receive a new method book.
Practice the same time each day. It helps you remember! Associate your practice time with a routine, like right after dinner or as soon as you get home from school.
Put an alarm in your phone for your practice plan and work hard to follow your plan closely. After a few faithful weeks it will become a habit and it will be much easier! Plus you will move forward quicker and enjoy being able to play!

Welcome to the newest member of our team, Hillary Dunham!
Hillary is our new Marketing and Event Specialist.
Hillary brings nearly 20 years of marketing experience to our team. Most recently, she served as Director of Marketing at a large Seattle-based nonprofit. Prior to that, she spent a decade working with marketing agencies to raise funds for nonprofits nationwide. A flutist in her younger years, Hillary is thrilled to be back around music makers and hopes their passion will rekindle her own!
Hillary was first introduced to Southern Oregon School of Music through Kindermusik with her toddler, Lucy. “We loved it! It was our first ‘mommy & me’ class after moving to Grants Pass,” Hillary says. “It was such a joy to be with other parents, enjoying music with our kiddos under expert instruction. As a first-time parent, I learned a lot from Miss Deb about how I could set firm but kind boundaries for my child.”
You’ll often find Hillary helping at the front desk or snagging some fun photos and videos around the studio. She’s the driving force behind our marketing communications—sharing the magic of making music and inviting others to be a part of it.
